WEB DESIGN
www.basurastudio.com
Objective: This is a personal project used as a creative outlet. The site started as apparel designs, that were a mashup of geek fandom (anime and video games), combined with an element of pop culture. I eventually added stickers and a few prints.
Approach: I did a ton of research to get started on the overall venture, but focusing strictly on the web design aspect there were a few questions that needed to be answered: How can I sell my shirts online? Where would I sell my shirts online? Do I want to use a shop like Etsy or Red Bubble, or make a website and sell it there?
I did a discovery and attained inspiration for my site, drafted up a few layouts and went from there.
Results: I eventually settled on a solution and coded the website, onto WordPress, and I use Shopify’s “Buy Button” to embed their ecommerce foundation onto my site. I’ve sold roughly 100 or so products both online and offline and the website is still fully functional today, granted I haven’t had the time to really invest into this venture over the past few years. This project helped greatly from both a personal and professional perspective seeing as how I was able to apply what I learned between the two.
